Tewkesbury Liberal Democrats and the European elections

May 7, 2019 6:05 PM

Tewkesbury and the SW Liberal Democrats want to stop Brexit.

We want Britain to remain in the EU because it's best for our economy, environment and public services.

In the SW Constituency we are electing 6 MEPs and there is a real chance that we can elect a Lib Dem here with your support.

Our lead candidate in the SW Euro Constituency (which includes Tewkesbury) is Caroline Voaden

Caroline Voaden

Caroline is a former Reuters journalist who covered the Balkan War. She was part of the team that launched Justgiving.com, which gave the charity world online fundraising. Widowed at 34, she is a former chair of the WAY (Widowed and Young) Foundation.

Caroline is a multilingual freelance editor who lives in Totnes with her husband Stuart. She has two daughters and a stepson.

She joined the Liberal Democrats the day after the June 2016 EU Referendum and contested South West Devon in the 2017 General Election.

The second candidate on the party list is Martin Horwood: well known to most of us as the former Cheltenham MP. For full details on all the candidates go to: www.swlibdems.org.uk

With 6 MEPs to elect, the SW region offers a real chance for the LDs under a PR counting system, although each voter only has one vote in the traditional way: see system explained at http://www.europarl.europa.eu/unitedkingdom/en/european-elections/european_elections/the_voting_system.html
