Cait Clucas will be the Liberal Democrat candidate for the constituency of Tewkesbury at the General Election on June 8th 2017. Cait

Cait believes that the Conservatives have shown themselves to be strong on slogans but weak on action and points to current MP Laurence Robertson's voting record in the House of Commons as an indication of how out of touch he really is with the people of Tewkesbury - voting against equal marriage rights and equality issues, voting against better treatment of the disabled and long-term sick, voting against higher taxes on the most well off and big business, and supporting cuts in welfare benefits for the most vulnerable.

Cait believes in social justice and equality, fairer funding for education, improved access to healthcare (especially mental health) and protecting our environment, and she aims to hold the sitting MP for Tewkesbury to account:

"In the 20 years since we chose to move to Tewkesbury, there have been cuts to all our public services. What has Mr Robertson done to stand up against these? He employed his wife and ex-wife in his constituency office at taxpayers' expense; he's reported to have been paid for providing parliamentary access to lobbyists. Meanwhile, the people he represents have seen their cost of living go up, and their services slashed."

Cait campaigned to Remain in the EU, and is standing to represent the voice of the 47% of people in the constituency who also voted to Remain and those who feel betrayed by the Leave campaign's mistruths. She supports the Lib Dem manifesto commitment to a referendum on the final Brexit deal, a choice to accept the deal presented or remain in the EU.

"There is only one alternative to the Conservative status quo - a vote for the Liberal Democrats in Tewkesbury will send a strong signal that we will not be taken granted, we do matter and we will stand up for what we believe in".

Cait is the former leader of the Liberal Democrats on Tewkesbury Borough Council and a HR Advisor with special interests in
mental health, well-being, the development of employment and apprenticeship opportunities
