Statement from Lib Dem Cllr. Iain Dobie on ‘NHS Services in Gloucestershire’

Liberal Democrat Group Health Spokesperson and Chair of Gloucestershire's Health and Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HCOSC), Cllr. Iain Dobie (Leckhampton and Warden Hill) has this week called for greater transparency over the 'rationalisation' of NHS Services in Gloucestershire.

Cllr. Dobie said:

Ian Dobie"I have asked this week for assurances from Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust Chief Executive Deborah Lee that the current patient services offered at both Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital will continue to be offered at both hospitals.

"I am seriously concerned that the £24m hole which has recently been revealed in the Hospitals Trust's finances will mean cuts to services at one or other hospital in the next two years.

"The Gloucestershire Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP), which was revealed at the end of last week, sets out priorities for Gloucestershire's Health and Care system over the next five years.

"A period of public engagement over the STP is now beginning and will run until the 23rd of February. I encourage all those who care about the future of our NHS - including the county's hospitals - to make their voices heard."
