Commenting on Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg's speech on Europe today and launch of the 'Why I am IN' campaign, South West England and Gibraltar Liberal Democrat MEP Sir Graham Watson said:

"Every single one of the 3 million people up and down the country whose jobs depend on Britain's membership of the EU should stand up and say why they want 'IN'."

"Does your company sells its goods or services in Europe? If yes, then you are one of the 3 million. Do you work for Airbus in Bristol, a cheese maker in Dorset, a Cornish pasty factory, a yacht builder in Plymouth, an engineering firm in Cheltenham, the Honda plant in Swindon, or the Augusta Westland factory in Yeovil? If so, you are one of the 3 million."

"I am IN for the pay cheques in my constituents' pockets thanks to our membership of the world's biggest single market. I am IN to help the victims of crime who have seen justice thanks to the European Arrest Warrant. I am IN because I want to fight the threat of climate change, and know that the only way to do this is by working together across the continent and taking the lead in global talks."

"As Nick Clegg said, Liberal Democrats are the Party of IN. But I am IN not just because I am a Liberal Democrat. Nor just because I am a Member of the European Parliament. I am IN because I am proud to be both British and European, proud of 70 years of unbroken peace in Europe and our record of harmony with our neighbours - and I want to see a stronger and safer United Kingdom."
