Glos CC Jeremy HiltonLiberal Democrat Leader Councillor Jeremy Hilton has called for the resignation of Councillor Antonia Noble as a Cabinet Member regarding the recent high court decision over the county's library service.

At full council on Wednesday, a number of questions were raised by both Liberal Democrats and the Friends of Gloucestershire Libraries concerning Judge McKenna's ruling against the county council.

Councillor Hilton said that "Gloucestershire County Council's legal costs are estimated at £70,000, but with the cost of Public Interest Lawyers, which is still currently unknown - The bill will reach well over £100,000. Councillor Noble's cavalier approach to the whole shambolic and expensive attempted cost-cutting exercise has left members of the public questioning whether she is really up to the job."

Councillor Hilton continued by saying that "the failure to properly debate and discuss last February's Liberal Democrat Call-In has unnecessarily cost the council thousands of pounds."
