Lib Dem's trounce the opposition in Cheltenham gaining over 66% of the vote

Cllr Chris ColemanThe Liberal Democrat candidate Chris Coleman got 722 votes in the Springbank by-election held on Thursday 28th October to fill the vacancy on Cheltenham Borough Council left by the death of John Morris earlier this year.

Labour candidate got just 142 votes and the Tory received 188.

The result in full:

LD Chris Coleman 722 (66.4%)

Con 188 (17.3%)

Lab 142 (13.1%)

Green 35 (3.2%)

Majority 534

Peter Richmond (Vice Chairman Tewkesbury Constituency) said: 'Some of us from Tewkesbury constituency supported our neighbours in Cheltenham in achieving this excellent result. Thanks and congratulations are due to all concerned.'

Alistair Cameron added: 'Such a good result is heartening for all Liberal Democrat supporters in the Tewkesbury area'.
